About Southport Rocks

About Southport Rocks
Chris Haw

'Southport Rocks' (Formerly 'The Jedi Music Festival') was created following the tragic and sudden death of Chris Haw. A very popular local young man who was studying for a management degree at Edge Hill University and someone who simply adored his festival music.

This festival is a tribute to him, to Raise Awareness of the syndrome which took his life at the tender age of 25 to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and also to raise Funds for The Vital Sounds Foundation (VSF) 'Southport Rocks' is a wholly independent event which is returning for its fourth year now due to popular demand. And will be the largest camping & glamping weekend music festival in the North West! It will be staged outdoors at the incredible Victoria Park, delivering a unique feast of music set on a tranquil and beautiful site offering entertainment unlike any other festival this side of England. The date is confirmed as 8th & 9th July 2011 at Victoria Park, Southport, and the historical home of the famous Southport Flower Show.

The park is set in acres of beautiful parkland and has staged numerous events catering for thousands of people at a time. It is easily accessed by road, rail and even by air! It has designated parking areas and is a 5 minute walk to the famous Lord Street.

As well as the Main Headline stage action there will be an Alternative stage featuring amazing acoustic acts, a Dance stage featuring Rock FM's Free jack and many more notable Disc Jockeys, Street Entertainers, plus festival entertainment from climbing walls to Cage Football, obstacle courses, inflatable attractions, a MASSIVE Family friendly toddler play area including Crèche facilities, face painting and hopefully a "beat the goalie" competition with Southport FC!

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service will also be at the festival offering everyone FREE 10 year smoke alarms, advice on Fire and Road safety, there will be a number of youth engagement activities and also information on how to apply to become a professional Firefighter. On site facilities include the famous, inflatable KRO Pub, mixed theme beach bars, a wealth of healthy, international cuisine and non Arts and Crafts stalls, a Vintage clothing Fair and many more beautiful stalls to occupy your desires all in a Southport Street Theme!

As with previous years, the organisers are keen to encourage festival goers to respect the local residents and the environment and to encourage everyone to leave their cars at home. The public transport system will bring you directly to the park with the rail network just a 5 minute walk from the park. If you have to bring your car to the festival then why not try the lift-share scheme? It will reduce traffic congestion to the festival, you can split the petrol costs between you, and it will help reduce your carbon footprint!
